Saying it with chocolate

Happy Valentine's Day

A marzipan heart

Lots of hearts and some swirly spheres

All tied up with ribbons and bows

How did you say it?
(or didn't you say it..?)

  2. They look amazing Annie. V day is always odd in our house..... anniversary of my mother's death... 30 years this time..... but it is a good reason for my brother and I to actually have a longish phone conversation rather than a quick facebook exchange. ( he lives in County Tipperary). I've had a good day.....flowers, phone calls, Mark cooking dinner....hope yours' has been great. Jxxx

    1. I've commented on your blog about this, Janice. As you say, always odd for you but this year, I think both you and Mark will be very glad to be together. We always say every day is St. Valentine's Day....(it's not, of course, but there's no reason to save all romantic notions for just one day, is there?) Much love, Axxx

  3. Happy Valentine's Day, Annie. Those look wonderful! Sadly DH is having problems with a tooth and has forsworn chocolate for the time being,so it's a nice bottle of sparkling wine with supper this evening. :-)

    1. And a nice bottle of sparkling wine sounds like an excellent idea, Perpetua. I'm beginning to have a little tooth problem myself. If only my dentist played videos of 'The Sound of Music', I would be there like a shot. As it is, I shall leave things a bit longer....unwise, but there you go.

  4. With chocolate, but shop bought fruit and nut Toblerone! I'd rather have yours.

    1. I was always partial to Toblerone, Gaynor. Enjoy - if I come to France (to sign away my share of the house there) I'll bring you some to try! Axxx

  5. He has fled to San Jose to escape his 'obligations...
No, we don't do anything for Valentine's Day, though I could happily make inroads into those gorgeous chocolates!

In Costa Rica it is Friendship Day, as the bank guard practising his English informed me.

I told him how lucky he was...were he in a country observing Valentine's day he would be taking his wife out to a restaurant, buying roses....
    His eyes widened in horror.

    1. I had assumed that they'd be rather more romantic in Costa Rica...I mean, Friendship Day is nice but sometimes, you need a little more. We don't 'do' Valentine's Day here either - FR always says every day is Valentine's Day for him. Hmmm.
If nothing else, it is a good excuse to eat chocolates - as if we need one! Axxx

  6. Oh how I wish I lived nearer to you. I've had to make do with a Kit-Kat. A good time was had dancing in the town square and my daughter and I have spent the afternoon making cupcakes and biscuits for her to take back to her loved one.

    1. After all that dancing, seems only fair you should be able to indulge in something a little more luxurious than a Kit-Kat, I agree. You wouldn't want to be within reaching distance though; too much exercise involved - that of self-control! Dancing is much better for you. Axxx

  7. What lovely, romantic people.
We had two rows instead of just the one! Happy days.

    1. Hope they were good ones! Can't say I'm the romantic type really; but I quite enjoyed making chocolate hearts. I like the marzipan ones best. Never thought to give FR one...

  8. Yum!

Funnily enough I said it with his favourite chocolate marzipan (not heart shaped, sadly).

    1. Chocolate and marzipan isn't my favourite but it works brilliantly for cutting out shapes and dipping them in chocolate. Truffles are just so sticky!
Hope he enjoyed it - what did you get??

  9. We didn't celebrate the day. Mainly because Mr A isn't working and feels bad enough that he doesn't have money for essentials, let alone flowers or chocolates...so I made a point of ignoring the day, and so did he!

I have to own up to constantly looking at your chocolate page on FB and drooling...and now you've put pics on here again....more drooling xx

    1. We don't celebrate with hearts, flowers, chocolates or anything either but my daughter wrote us a letter of love and we all shared more hugs than usual. That's all that's necessary.

It's lovely to think of you looking at my chocolates - I shall try not to imagine the drooling bit, though! Thank you! Axxx
