I spy

With my little eye, two planets beginning with 'V' and 'J'.

Yes, just to the left of our (note the possessive) wonderful castle, La Mota, amazingly clear in the night sky are the planets Venus and Jupiter. I read today that the skies are cloudy over the UK but I wanted to share this fantastic sight with you. I don't know if other folk across the world (who pass by my blog) have as good a view or can take a better photo - I just pointed and clicked - but I have been in awe these past few evenings to think we can see these two celestial orbs in our skies.

Off back to gaze again.

  1. Hello Annie:
What an amazing sight!!Two glittering spheres in that inky black sky, how marvellous they look. Yes, if we could see this, we should be out there gazing skyward too....

  3. What a view....spectacular, and I also think you are very clever, knowing what those lights in the sky are....just another of your accomplishments, J x

  5. I don't know too much about the stars but they are so clear and visible here; it is impossible to miss two such bright ones - and I knew one was Venus.
We saw Jupiter before Christmas and were able to see two of its moons as well. FR and Mateo are interested, so I listen to them - it was FR that told me it was Jupiter we could see again.
I do love to look up - the skies are fantastic and you can often clearly see the Milky Way.

  6. Lucky you, Annie! I read about the conjunction on the BBC website and I'm green with envy at your perfect view. I too love stargazing and being far from streetlights we usually get a wonderful view of the heavens, but this week we've had at least four solid days of mist and cloud. Sigh....

  7. It has been very cloudy here this week, but early last week we had a bright night of star shine courtesy of these celestial eminences!
