Well, I've had blue, grey and white days.
Today was so green, I was looking for the Teletubbies.
All this greenery from a few days of pouring rain - obviously just what the earth needed around here as the wheat has sprouted, lush and verdant.
We'd been visiting a village just south of Jaen (north of Alcala) where I'd had my eye on a house for some time. It's such a disappointment to find that the photographs distort reality somewhat - though what was impressive about the house was the amazing furniture that was to be part of a sale. Sadly, the house isn't for us - I just needed to see it in real life to put it out of my mind (or buy it!)
On the way back, we left the olive groves and entered a green paradise, just north of Granada near a pretty little village called PiƱar, which is topped by an ancient moorish castle and known for its caves.
Our house won't there either but we did enjoy the scenery!
The children were just delighted to see such a wonderful spread of green - I think they've missed green. We had a lot of green in Huddersfield! We should go back soon and capture golden, I think.
There is nothing quite like the post-rain green of the natural world, sooo fresh. Gorgeous images Annie, and commiserations about the house.
ReplyDeleteThanks Annie - I'm feeling quite sanguine about houses. We are looking at lots and they are getting nearer the mark so that's good. I love looking around and seeing more of this beautiful part of the world. Today made me realise that I have missed seeing green - we've had a real eyeful now! Axxx
ReplyDeleteTeletubbie land looks beautiful Annie...and the house is there...somewhere. Lots of love J.xxxx
ReplyDeleteActually, I could quite fancy the teletubbies underground eco-house, Janice...now there's a thought! Axxx
ReplyDeleteLovely pics. Good luck with the house hunting.
ReplyDeleteThank you Carole - and thanks for remembering Brahms' birthday! Axxx
ReplyDeleteLovely lush, versant pastures.
ReplyDeleteThe weather seems to be the same all over Europe, although I expect the rain is warmer where you are...
It has been very wet and really cold to say we are so far south but this week, we are predicted 30+ degrees - all that green will soon be gone. Still it was lovely to see it. Axxx
DeleteHello Annie:
ReplyDeleteThe countryside with you really is looking verdant and is, we are sure, a joy to see. Later in the year we imagine that everything, as here, becomes somewhat burnt up and parched looking which, unless an exceptionally hot, dry summer, is seldom the case in England. But think of what it has been like there in recent weeks, and continuing this Bank Holiday weekend!!
Isn't verdant a lovely word! You're right - it won't last long and the sun is shining strongly today and feels more 'permanent' than it has in recent weeks. Even the morning was warm enough to venture our without a coat... though the locals have, as usual, got overcoats and scarves on! Axxx
DeleteHi Annie,
ReplyDeleteLovely colours and I'm sure the right house is there just waiting for you to happen upon it.
Here on the West Coast we have had lovely dry weather (I kid you not!) with some great walking over Saturday and Sunday. Came home last night as forecast said rain and guess what the wet stuff has arrived.
Celia x
The green here is lovely - though different from the UK somehow. I have missed that mossy, damp green that we had around Huddersfield and some of the smells that accompanied it but there are compensations. (Orange blossom scent being one that springs to mind!) Hope the sun shines on you again before long, Celia. Rock on! Axxx
DeleteGosh, Annie, I don't think I've ever seen photos of Spain looking so green. It looks positively English except for the colour of the sky. Yep, definitely Dipsy and Laa-Laa country.... :-) I'm glad you're feeling optimistic about the house search. It IS out there waiting for you somewhere. Pxx
ReplyDeleteHi Perpetua - glad I'm still showing you different facets of Spain. I suspect the green won't last too long though. There are some people who just visit houses for sale for the hell of it - I haven't reached that stage yet and when I do, I will stop. I know there'll be something to suit us soon. Axxx
ReplyDeleteThat green is lovely...I'm just wondering if it is the difference in skies which give areas different greens...if you see what I mean.
ReplyDeleteHi Fly, good point. The sky makes such a difference to colours everywhere, so very probably yet. Or maybe it's something prosaic like the type of wheat that's being grown. Whatever, it's lovely to soak up the riot of colours that are around at this time of year, isn't it.
