Procession in Villalobos

Before the feasting commenced.

And the fun afterwards...

Health and Safety be hanged...smash earthenware pots all over the place!

Get ready to eat Grannie's trifle in the garden.

Where Mum spent most of her holiday - outside in the garden.

I was so getting used to Mum being here - it felt quite strange this morning. Now she's had to go back and I am missing her. But we have the recipe and we can do it all again. Hopefully soon.

  2. I've been thinking about you all week...so glad you all had such a great time. It is going to be sometime before our pergola has as much growth on it.....newly planted, it going to have to have some rush matting spread over it for this summer ! Lovely photos Annie. I hope your mum managed a rest as well as all the fun and games. Lots of love J xxx

    1. We've had a lovely, lovely time, Janice - we've done little other than talk and enjoy each other's company.
The vine has recovered somewhat after the snow seemed to kill the new growth off and now it's doing fine. Rush matting sounds like a perfectly acceptable stop gap!
I have some more photos of the fiesta - it was a really good weekend she chose to visit and I know she's gone back feeling much better than when she came.

  3. I'm sure your mum had just as wonderful a time sharing your life as you did having her there. It's also wonderful for the kids to have their grandmother around. I guess it kind of 'rounds off' your move so that she now knows exactly what and where you are talking about.

    1. You're are quite right, Gaynor. She was very keen to see our new house but was really bowled over by it and our lovely surroundings. She thinks we have chosen wisely after all this time. It will make such a difference to her to know exactly where we are and to think of us here.

  8. Delightful recipe - so glad the visit was enjoyed by all. Great timing for the local fiesta too, always fun, our village one is in August, transforming the usually quiet ermita into a huge party.

    1. Thanks, Chrissie - it was a most successful and enjoyable visit. Here is fiesta time in a lot of the villages and we have been invited to one this weekend too. Our village seems to have just about recovered now and is back to its sleepy self.

  9. What a perfect recipe, Annie, and I'm so glad the weather stayed fine for you. Your mother looks completely at home there under the pergola :-) Your fiesta reminds me strongly of our village fete in France in July, though our meal is eaten in the village hall, given the unpredictability of the summer weather in Normandy.....

    1. We were so lucky with the weather, Perpetua - it's been so very chilly since my mum left. Yes, she made herself very much at home and I was delighted she did.
There were still several village activities that went on around our home in England, which we always tried to go to - including the Duck Race at Holmfirth - where the primary intention was to raise money for charity but the village fiesta here seemed much more intimate and friendly. Glad you have yours still to look forward to - the hall venue sounds rather sensible all things considered!!
