Domestic scene |
What a lovely bedroom |
Oh look - father with broom and log fire - just like real life! |
Apparently the mother of the family is an ambulance driver |
No accidents, just the school run. |
Byeee! (Shouldn't she be sitting down and strapped in?) |
Hey - flashing lights and all! |
Yes... it is brilliant isn't it. I notice your ambulance is the same model as ours..... and sometimes we cant find the roof. Liam or Dexter may have shoved it ubder the sofa, or just fixed it onto the fire engine...but it usually turns up. Some of "my" playmobil is from when Jess was little, and some from when Matt and Jodie were small.... and I believe they inherited some of theirs from Vera Greenwood's children....who must be approaching 40 at the least by now. I have a good collection here in Yorkshire, and a pretty impressive collection in Caunes. Nothing beats it ! Jxxxxx
ReplyDeleteI think I had Lego when I was little and my sister's children did more Meccano and Stix or something so most of ours is no older than Ruy. It lasts well and is pretty timeless. I love seeing Romy's creations and she and a school friend of hers spend hours playing with it. I was delighted to find these photos on the camera! Axxx
DeleteBaby looks comfortable in the front seat of the ambulance.
ReplyDeleteLooks like it's still in the high chair - I just presume the mum knows what she's doing. Probably the best place to be if there's an accident too... Axxx
DeleteIncredibly Playmobil has been around since the '70s. Some of ours, belonging to two of my sons aged 34 and 37 now, has ended up with a friend's grandchildren who love it too much to pass it back to my 37 year old's little ones - especially the little yellow Renault.
ReplyDeletePerhaps that retro look it has - so innocently cheerful - that adds to its appeal. I love the detail, though hate finding little bits everywhere in the house! Amazingly, we still have tiny knives, forks, pieces of eight, bones, gold nuggets and precious gems in miniature from the various sets we've collected over the years - I've tried to instill the need for a special 'small pieces' box but they still seem to escape and find their way into all corners of the house! Haven't see a little yellow Renault but bet it's just perfect! Axxx
DeleteAww, such sweet photos, Annie. Our children and grandchildren were/are all great Lego fans, so I've no actual experience of Playmobil, but it looks fun. :-)
ReplyDeleteWe have both, Perpetua. Romy is particularly fond of Playmobil, whereas Ruy likes building Lego things. Think lots and lots of tiny things and details in every possible situation from Pirate ships, to vets, to fairies, to everyday family life - there's Playmobil! Axxx
DeleteImaginative play is always so much fun for children, I still have my childrens Playmobile that I've kept by for the granchildren.........it's lasted well, it's so well made and robust..............and I must admit to having a little play when the grandchildren have gone home. x
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely robust - it gets stood on, dropped and all sorts of misuse but always looks good and doesn't seem to break. I too sneakily enjoy rearranging things around from time to time! Putting hats on all the men or making the fairies and pirates have a tea party together - that sort of thing! Axxx
DeleteBrilliant photos and lovely wee story sharing.
ReplyDeleteMuch love - Celia
Romy is a real story-teller, Celia, so Playmobil is brilliant for her. I love her to tell me all the background to the scenes she sets out. And the little touches of real life that creep in - with our new log burner, Cesar is permanently sweeping up and faffing about round the fireplace!! Thanks, Axxxx
DeletePlaymobil is up there with Lego in my opinion. Such a brilliant toy and so adaptable.
